Timer: Work two per lane; operate stopwatch, back-up button and record the watch times for each athlete for each event. Verify athlete name prior to swim (in case of relays, verify all athletes and their order of swim prior to start of race).
Head Timer: Conducts a timer meeting prior to each session; works to provide two timers per lane. Operates two back-up watches for each race start in event of watch malfunction on any lane and provides back up watch to timer. Checks all watches prior to meet to ensure ready; distributes watches, clipboards and pencils for each lane. Collects all equipment used by timers at end of each session.
Concessions: Work under supervision of Concession Coordinator to prepare, sell and restock food, beverages and heat sheets. Food handling and cash handling required.
Hospitality: Work under supervision of Hospitality Coordinator to prepare and serve food and beverages to coaches and officials during the meet. Food preparation prior to meet required.
Timing Console: Training required; operates and monitors timing console to ensure accurate working of timing system. Change malfunctioning components such as touch pads and back up buttons as needed. Key priority is to ensure accurate time for every athlete upon completion of each race performed. Provides documentation of each heat’s results to Meet Director during the meet.
Computer/HyTek: Training required; provide lane timer sheets for recording; operates computer to download results of each heat during meet; verifies accuracy of times recorded; makes adjustments using watch times as necessary to provide official time. Generates printed results for posting immediately upon conclusion of each event; generates labels for awards/ribbons and provides to person handling results/awards. Upon completion of swim meet, provides official meet results electronically to PNS and visiting teams.
Results/Awards: Post copy of heat sheet and time line for public access viewing. Also posts final results of each event in pool lobby upon receipt from computer operator; applies labels to ribbons and sort awards by team. At end of meet, provides each team’s ribbons to representative (coach or parent) prior to their departure. Distributes heat winner prizes from pool office.
Announcer: Uses PA system to provide music during warm-ups and makes announcements throughout the meet for athletes, spectators and coaches of 1st call, 2nd call and final call for each event and heat number. Work in conjunction with referee for additional announcements including positive check-in events, safety matters, use of flash photography, etc.
Set-up and Reset Crew: Must work both set-up and reset to receive credit. Set-up consists of working Friday evening to prepare pool deck for competition. Set-up includes clearing deck of all non-essential equipment, setting up chairs, carpet runners, lane lines, tables and other equipment. Reset is just the reverse... stow all equipment used for swim meets and return pool to original setting for classes and lessons including returning equipment stored away during meet.
Officials: Requires both training and certification. Work assigned positions as directed by Referee. Attend officials briefing prior to commencement of session.
